Monteverde Cloud Forest Lodge

Due to its high elevation and wet climate, the cloud forests of Monteverde are rich with biodiversity. You can explore several natural reserves and while doing so search for bare-necked umbrellabirds, three-toed sloths, white-faced monkeys and more. Trips can be made to the butterfly and orchid gardens or the Monteverde Cheese Factory, where you will learn about the region’s cultural history and try a sampling of local cheeses and ice cream.

Guests of the Cloud Forest Lodge will enjoy its tranquil and organic ambiance and outdoor accessibility. Over 3 miles (5 km) of trails extend throughout the forested property, where some 180 species of birds are known to reside.

Delicious and carefully prepared Costa Rican-style meals are available at the lodge’s cordial restaurant, including beef, chicken, fish, soups, salads, desserts and more. The restaurant is open from breakfast till dinner, and is known for its homemade granola and bread. A variety of national and foreign drinks can be enjoyed at the bar, a spot that also serves up amazing views of the nearby forest and, in the distance, the Gulf of Nicoya.

Next to the restaurant is a reading area surrounded by windows and stocked with sofas. This is the perfect place to get cozy and lounge away the afternoon — whether that’s with a book, computer, or companion is up to you.

The lodge’s bungalow-style rooms are large and homey, and decorated with bright, earthy colors. Wood paneling covers the ceiling and walls, and tile floors help to keep things clean and cool. All rooms are equipped with private hot water bathrooms, single or double beds, and a private terrace.
